MAD Academy postcard and poster

As a good parent, I volunteered to design the poster and the postcard for the upcoming Santa Barbara High School MAD Academy Winter Showcase. And also to lay out 78 boards with the work of the kids from the Sophomore class.

The previous posters showed only four pieces each. You can see the 2009 poster at Noozhawk. I wanted to show the work of as many kids as possible. I started with the design of a 22″x28″ poster, which I cropped and resized for the postcard, making the images bleed off the page, to give the idea that there’s more than fits the page. Then I changed a few images, to give other kids the chance to shine.

Come to the artists’ reception on February 3, 2011, at Gallery 27 (5-8pm), 27 Cota Street, Santa Barbara. The exhibit is part of First Thursday Santa Barbara. It will be fun.

Below is the poster, which you can see full size by clicking on the image. All the art is copyright of their respective artists, and the reverse of the postcard, with the artists’ credits.

  1. [...] A few more self-portraits from the 100 Days series. This week I took down the EcoHeroes Project photo exhibit; edited photos from the photo shoot in Las Vegas at Bigelow Aeroespace; went to a Nymphaea multimedia projection organized in part by my friends Jon Smith and Robin Bisio; photographed and interviewed Colin Firth on the red carpet of the Arlington Theater for a pre-Oscar article; was driven to a meeting to finalize plans for the launch of The House of Six Doors; edited photos from a Laguna Beach wedding; and I went to First Thursday for Diego’s group art show at Gallery 27, featuring also the boards, poster and postcards I designed for the MAD Academy.
